Double Bass Lessons

The double bass is the foundation of the orchestra. Without the double bass, music from composers like Beethoven and Mahler just simply wouldn't be the same. At Gifted Music School, students can learn the techniques to play the bass in private lessons, while also being offered group classes, recitals, masterclasses, jury examinations, and the opportunity to hone their newly learned skills with chamber music opportunities.

One of the biggest questions a parent asks is how early can a student start? The double bass seems so large, how can my child play it? Like all other stringed instruments, double basses come in different sizes. The most common size is 3/4, but basses can be found in sizes ranging from 1/16 to 4/4. Many 10-year-olds are big enough to play a 1/2 size bass. The double bass instructors at the Gifted Music School will help you find the right-sized instrument for your budding bass player.

Learning to play the double bass opens doors in all genres of music. It has great importance in the classical literature but is also vital to jazz and pop music. Learning how to play an instrument is just the first step in creating the musical future you want to live.
