Suzuki Teacher Trainer Carey Beth Hockett shares skillful and engaging strategies and ideas for teaching group classes for all ages and levels! Discover ways to make your group classes more effective, accessible, fun, and community-building, nurturing students' musical growth as well as their hearts. This workshop is for bowed string teachers (violin, viola, cello, and bass).
 
Seats for this in-person workshop are limited, so register while you still can! String teachers taking this course should be active members of the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA), and have registered Suzuki Unit 1 on their instrument. This 10-hour enrichment course is eligible for registration with the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA). Since this course is intended to supplement Suzuki teaching, Every Child Can! (ECC) or Filosofía and Unit 1 are required prerequisites. A current SAA Active Membership is required. 100% attendance is required to register the training with the SAA.

 

About the Instructor

Carey Beth Hockett has been actively involved in the Suzuki world for more than 40 years. She taught at the Ithaca Talent Education School and then for the London Suzuki Group and is now on the faculty of the Colburn School in Los Angeles. She was a member of the International Suzuki Association’s Cello Committee and served as repertoire consultant to the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music in England and the Royal Conservatory in Toronto. She teaches string pedagogy at the Colburn Conservatory and is the Director of the schools’ Jumpstart String Program.
