Young Artists

The Young Artists Program at the Gifted Music School is for the advanced students of the GMS Preparatory Division and students of other teachers in the area, who are preparing to audition for the GMS Conservatory. The Young Artists track offers group classes such as theory, literature, or musicianship as well as sectional rehearsals and the opportunity to rehearse and perform with the GMS Conservatory Orchestra. All classes, sectionals, and rehearsals are taught by GMS Conservatory faculty.

Schedule

  • Weekly classes on Thursday nights from 4:30-6:30 pm.
  • 4:30-5:25 pm Musicianship Class | Ksenia Ilinykh
  • 5:35-6:30 pm Sectional | Rachel Karr
  • Monthly Workshop class with Eugene Watanabe
  • Opportunity to join the Conservatory Orchestra in performing one piece per concert.

Like all Conservatory students, musicians in the Young Artists track must pass off their piece in order to qualify to play in the concert. Rehearsals with the Conservatory Orchestra will take place on Saturday mornings, beginning a few weeks into the semester.

Students qualify for this program through audition in the spring of each year.
