Summer Music Camps

Our summer kids’ camps are three weeks of pure fun! Emilie Gardner and Megan Mason offer new perspectives on the arts for children ages 4-12. Each week has a different theme and is filled with music, art, dance, and writing. Explore the science of sound waves or learn a Maori haka. Consider how music and emotion are linked, or create a dance based on your morning routine. Students get creative while learning the principles behind musical composition. Each week culminates in a special presentation, after which students are able to take home all the new art they've made.

This year, we have three very exciting themes. You can sign your student up for one, two, or three sessions, for just $150 each! Camp runs 9am-12pm Monday through Friday, with a special parent presentation from 12-1 on the final day that you won't want to miss! Here's a glimpse of what we are up to this year:

Session I: July 10-14

Carnival of the Animals

Back by popular demand, this week will center on Saint-Saens’s beloved orchestral work. Each day we will build a piece of our carnival, learning the music, writing stories, dancing, and creating art about each set of animals. Whether it be birds, fossils, fish, or elephants, every day is exciting! Some activities will be:

  • How to Make a Bird out of Almost Anything

  • Shadow Puppet Theater

  • Build Your Own Aquarium

  • Turtle Races

  • Fossil Hunt

  • Elephants on Parade

Session II: July 31-August 4

Mind, Body, Soul Music

This week is dedicated to our physical, mental, and emotional health. In today's busy climate, children are asked to bear a lot of responsibility at a young age, and we want to help build skills to cope with their various stressors and challenges in a fun, relaxed way. Here are some things we will learn this week:

  • Zumba

  • Yoga for Kids

  • The Inside Out Playlist

  • Dream Catchers

  • What’s Your Color

  • Paint-a-Dream

  • The Story of Ravel’s Bolero

Around the World

Imagine seeing the world in just five days! This week we will take a trip around the continents, stamping our passports as we learn about Maori haka, Brazilian rainforest music, African tribal dance, American pioneer games, and much more. Students will travel the globe, finding special music, dance, and art along the way. If you've ever wondered how they celebrate in Kenya or how lullabies sound in China, this camp is for you. • Song and Dance of the American West

  • Rainforest Music

  • How to Make a Feathered Headdress
