Paderewski Festival
Piano and Chamber Music Competition 2017

Welcome to our inaugural Paderewski Festival and Competition! 

Sponsored by the Gifted Music School, this event will celebrate Paderewski's legacy and keep it alive through festivities, competition, and the Polish Consulate will come to give lectures.

When: November 3, 2017

Where: Gifted Music School, 150 South, 1000 East; Salt Lake City.

Award presentation, performance, and lecture: 7:01pm. 

Competition Time: 1:01pm-6:01pm.

Where: Gifted Music School, Salt Lake City.

Piano competition: Students ages 5-18 and is open to pianists of all levels. 

Grand Prize:  Performance in Chicago at The Polish Museum of America in 2018 on Paderewski's Steinway.

Rules: Open to pianists ages 5-18.  
Categories: Early Elementary ages 6-9; Elementary 10-12; Junior high 13-15; High school 16-18.
Repertoire Requirement: Pieces from the Classical Period; 2 contrasting pieces from different style periods.
Special Prize: Given to best performance of music of Polish Descent (Chopin, Paderewski, etc.)
Special Paderewski Prize: Given to best performance of music by Paderewski
Special Paderewski quiz prize: student who scores the highest on the Paderewski Quiz
Prizes: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize Medals and Certificates; Additional Prizes TBA.

Chamber competition:  Open to chamber groups age 18 and under.  

Director: Dr. LeeAnn Morgan, Chamber Department Chair 
Rules: Any classical repertoire chamber group (duos, trios, quartets, quintet, sextet, octet); woodwinds included.
Age requirement: 8-18 years old; up to age 20 for woodwinds.  All ages are in one category.
Repertoire requirements: 2 contrasting pieces from the classical repertoire; all programs must be approved by the artistic director.  Minimum time of entire program will be 10 minutes.  Special prize will be awarded to any groups featuring music of Polish descent.
Prizes: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize Medals and certificates of honor; gift certificates. Additional prizes TBA.

All decisions of the jury will be final. Good sportsmanship is required.  We want everyone to support each other and have a festive time! 

To Apply: Fill out the application form and send it to us via mail (see address below) or email (  $20 Application Fee per applicant for the piano competition, and $30 for each chamber group.  Checks should be made out to Gifted Music School, ATTN: Paderewski Festival.
