Financial Aid Information

Gifted Music School is committed to providing the highest standard in music education to dedicated children of all backgrounds. In order to accomplish this, we offer a limited number of need-based, partial tuition (up to 50%) scholarships through the Financial Aid Office.*

*Note: Submitting an application does not guarantee any financial assistance—the Scholarship Committee reviews all applications and makes the final decision based on a family’s financial need and available funds. 2019-20 Financial Aid Application Deadlines

Applications are submitted at the beginning of the school year (Fall Semester) and will be continued through the (2-semester) year as long as the teacher verifies practicing and progression are happening, along with acceptable attendance and participation in Student Juries and Honors Recitals. All applications for financial aid must be submitted no later than one month prior to the start of each semester. Applications submitted after this date cannot be considered.

Fall 2019 — July 24, 2019
Spring 2020 — December 26, 2019
Summer 2020 — May 6, 2020

Eligibility

Dedicated, hard-working students who demonstrate both (1) a commitment to focused, high-level music education and (2) financial need for tuition assistance are eligible to apply for scholarships through Gifted Music School. The majority of our financial aid scholarship recipients come from families with an annual household Adjusted Gross Income of under $60,000. Students receiving financial aid are required to maintain the following standards in order to retain their scholarships.

  • Access to instrument for daily practice
  • Demonstration of dedicated work as reported by instructor(s).
  • 100% attendance, except in case of family emergency or illness.
  • Compliance with school policies and procedures, signed at the beginning of each year.
  • Demonstrated continued need of financial assistance.

How to Apply

Step 1) Print and complete the 2019-20 Financial Aid Application.

Step 2) Attach a copy of all parent/guardian IRS Form-1040 Personal Income Tax Returns, and obscure all private Social Security information.

Step 3) Write a brief personal statement describing your family’s financial hardship and explaining how a scholarship would impact your child’s ability to study at Gifted Music School.

Step 4) Provide two (2) letters of recommendation: one (1) from the student’s current GMSPD faculty member (or previous private music teacher if student is new to Gifted Music School), and one (1) from a school teacher, principal, or advisor who can speak for the student’s character and work ethic.
Note: Recommendations should not be delivered by students or parents. Please ask your recommenders to send digital copies of their letters to scholarships@giftedmusicschool.org or to mail printed letters to our Financial Aid Office (address listed below).

Step 5) Email your signed application and attachment(s) to scholarships@giftedmusicschool.org no later than 5:00pm on the deadlines listed above. Mailed applications will also be accepted at the address below.
