Conservatory Solfege and Ear Training

The solfege program at the Gifted Music School is an integral part of the fundamental music skills and theory education program. The Gifted Music School offers solfege and ear training classes in conjunction with the study of written theory. These classes focus primarily on sight-singing using the time-tested solfege syllable system. Students learn to ‘solfege,’ both in groups and individually, melodies of progressively increasing complexity in treble, bass, alto and tenor clefs. Ear training classes also emphasize rigorous study of interval identification as well asboth melodic and rhythmic dictation. As with music theory, there are many different classes offered to accommodate the wide range of students’ skills and experience.
